Despite not officially being a member of the new ownership team I am still a site administrator, and I'd like to thank the community for their patience in these fairly uncertain times. I've gone ahead and pushed a few changes through the works,
Firstly, I've gone ahead and added an anonymous posting option to the community feedback board (which has also been renamed from suggestions) after a fair amount of members have voiced their desire to get involved but feel as if the board has become too personal and informal, among other things. The anonymous posting feature allows users to choose whether to post under their name or an anonymous alias. This is suitable for complaints as well as feature suggestions.
Please be warned if you break the rules while in anonymous posting mode you will have the option revoked, nobody has the 'easy' capacity to view who is behind anonymous comments, but rest assured it is more than possible for the site admins. Aside from that, no other staff can see. Hopefully this addition will help to catalyze the process of feedback from the community and aid the new ownership in the months and years ahead. Staff are prohibited from revealing the identity of anonymous posters.
Secondly, the "Chat" button now works, I've managed to hack a way together to change the URL it leads to. I'm aware it's broken the style a little at the edge. The issue with simpleportal buttons disappearing has also been fixed.
Finally, with the email servers still out of action and account registrations being approved by myself I've bolstered anti-spam on the registration page (KeyCAPTCHA) and simply disabled email activation as a requirement. This should do enough to keep out any bots but allow users to register.
