How to Make Your Server Page Stand Out on MoparScape
Published
Players decide in seconds whether to open a server page or scroll past it. These tips come from how MoparScape actually shows your listing: what players see in the list, what they read on your page, and what happens when they vote.
Pick the right categories
Most players browse a list, not the whole site. If your server is OSRS-style, a spawn server or built around PKing, add it to the matching section of the RSPS List: OSRS, Spawn or PKing. Your page shows these categories with links in its server information block, so the right ones also tell visitors what kind of server you run before they read a word.
Use a clear server name
Your title is shown in the lists and at the top of your server page. Put the server's name first and keep it short. Long titles packed with emojis and capital letters get cut off on smaller screens, and they read like spam.
Write a description players can actually use
The description is the main thing players read before they join, and it is also what search engines use to understand your page. A line like "best eco server, join now" tells them nothing. Aim for at least 200 words and answer the questions players ask. A structure that works:
- One sentence about the server: revision and game style, for example "An OSRS-style economy server with custom raids and Ironman modes".
- Rates and modes: XP and drop rates, Ironman and other account modes.
- Content: the bosses, raids, minigames and custom features you are proud of.
- How to play: client options (desktop, RuneLite, mobile) and where to download them from your own website.
- Community: your Discord, events and how often you post updates.
Use headings and short paragraphs, and keep images on a reliable host. Images that no longer load are hidden from your page, so a dead image host can quietly empty your description.
Enter your website correctly
Use the full address of your website, including https://, for example https://www.yourserver.com. The Play and Site buttons on your page send players there, so open them yourself after every change.
Reward players for voting
Players can vote for your server once every 12 hours, and for up to three servers in that time. To give them an in-game reward, add a Callback uri in your server settings. After a vote, MoparScape sends a request to that address with the player's name:
- If your address ends with "=", for example https://www.yourserver.com/vote?user=, the name is added right after it.
- If it already has parameters, the name is added as &name=, for example https://www.yourserver.com/vote?key=abc&name=PlayerName.
- Otherwise it is added as ?name=, for example https://www.yourserver.com/vote?name=PlayerName.
Spaces in names become underscores. Your vote page should answer within 2 seconds. To fill in the player's name automatically, link players to your MoparScape page with ?name=TheirName at the end of the address: the vote form then sends the reward to that name.
Use a light banner
The banner is the first thing players see in the list. Keep it sharp at 468×60. Animated GIF banners are converted to a short video automatically when the video is smaller, which keeps the list fast on phones. Transparent GIFs stay as they are, so avoid transparency if you want the faster version.
Ask for reviews
Player reviews with a 1 to 5 star rating appear at the bottom of your server page. Ask your players to leave an honest review after they have played for a few days: new visitors trust other players more than any banner.
